Vintage Notes - 2021

The 2021 vintage will be remembered for low yields, intensely-flavored small-sized berries, an extended hang time, and a smooth uneventful harvest. Ironically, the ongoing drought that was the culprit of the year's lighter yields created flavor intensity that has been described as "through the roof". Early heat and the lack of rain accelerated sugar accumulation but soon moderate temperatures arrived increasing phenolic ripening, extending the growing season and intensifying flavor development. The resulting grapes were packed full of flavor. 2021, may prove to be one of the best vintages in recent memory.

2021 Cuvée Lynn Marie
Cabernet Sauvignon - Napa Valley

$65

WINEMAKING NOTES
Cuvée Lynn Marie, Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful blend of fruit from two of Napa Valley's finest vineyards. A perfect marriage of rich, full bodied valley fruit from the Calistoga AVA and pure, intense mountain fruit from the Atlas Peak AVA this wine exhibits a well balanced and yet powerful flavor profile and structure.
Fruit from both vineyards was picked in the cool of the morning at 4 a.m. followed by a gentle destemming of the clusters and light crush. A four day cold soak was followed by a 31-45 day fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 20 months and bottled on August 5, 2023.

TASTING NOTES

Monvitis' Cuvée Lynn Marie shows off the intense fruit driven flavors of the 2021 vintage and is a powerful, yet refined wine that is intense and luscious. Rich and full bodied, it exhbits floral aromas with boysenberry, black cherry, cassis, blueberry and notes of caramel, hazelnut, and forest floor. The dark plum and black cherry flavors are layered with cassis and spice. Polished tannins lead to flavors of fresh blueberry and cinamon with an almost caramel like sweetness and coffee bean on the long finish.
